Intro from Mike Kelly, Founder and CEO

Kia ora tatou, and welcome to 2Shakes.

2Shakes was formed in 2016 on the NZ Government R9 Accelerator to make it easier for businesses, starting with the Accounting Sector, to meet their compliance needs when onboarding customers.

A successful Demo Day at the Embassy in Wellington saw 2Shakes win the People’s Choice award, and helped secure funding and sponsorship from MBIE, ACC, Statistics NZ and Microsoft, among others.

Since our cloud Onboarding Automation software launched in 2017 it has developed to include AML Customer Due Diligence and Biometric Identity Verification, and expanded to other sectors like Law, Real Estate and Financial Advisers.

We are proud to be the World’s first SaaS onboarding, authority and AML solution in one. We have codified the decision process of Onboarding and AML, with Electronically signed documents, Authority to Act, Biometric IDV, company structure analysis and API-based auto-population.

We have built 2shakes into a mature platform, fit for purpose, through listening to and understanding our customers, then co-designing 2Shakes with them to meet their needs.  Together with the highest level of customer service and a desire to help the communities we work with, 2Shakes has grown to over two and a half thousand current users and was nominated in 2022 for NZ Bookkeeping Software of the Year.

As a company we focus on looking after our customers, and we see them thriving with around 30% average increase in business per year. That’s why our customers recommend and refer us to others – the real test of a great product delivered with excellent customer service.

How 2Shakes was formed

The 2Shakes team was formed during MBIE’s RevUp! weekend in February 2016. A team of four applied and 2Shakes was selected. Over the twelve weeks of the MBIE R9Accelerator we identified improvements we could make in the onboarding space, helping government and businesses. A successful Demo Day the Embassy in Wellington led to 2Shakes being funded to develop our software, and we have gone from strength to strength from there.
